The smallest load cells offered by Stellar Technology are the tension and compression Model VLU850 and the compression only Model VLC856 subminiature load cells. These load cells are designed specifically for applications requiring small size, minimal mass and rugged construction.
Subminiature Load Cells
Fully welded and fabricated from stainless steel, these bonded foil strain gage force sensors have 150%FSO overload protection and are shock and vibration protected to provide reliable performance for demanding application conditions. Many standard units and ranges are available from stock.
The Model VLU850 is a tension and/or compression design and comes in either a single in-line threaded stud or dual in-line threaded stud configuration. VLU850 subminiature load cells are ideal for critical applications such as skeletal analysis, filament and fiber testing, force over area measurements, surgical robotics, and haptic technology. The Model VLC856 is a compression-only design and features a load button machined as an integral part of the sensing element for durable and repeatable performance. Subminiature compression load cells of this type are ideal for applications involving pharmaceutical presses, non-invasive fluid fill systems, and physical therapy devices.
Stellar Technology’s subminiature load cells are as small as 0.38” in diameter and 0.15” thick which makes them easy to integrate into existing applications and fixtures. They are offered with a variety of mounting configurations including low profile thru-hole designs, flanged base plates, and male or female mounting studs with customer-specified threads, including metric.
Stellar Technology’s subminiature load cells are available in ranges from 10 pounds up to 1,000 pounds with accuracy of 0.50% BFSL. Standard output is 2mV/V with in-line amplifiers available to provide analog (mA or mV/V) or digital output including CANbus, RS232 and RS485. The standard operating temperature range is -40° to 250°F with -65° to 400°F optionally available. Additional features include custom calibration, special full scale ranges, and custom cable lengths. Each unit is shipped with repeatability data and a 5 point calibration record traceable to NIST as standard.
