Linear Variable Displacement Transformers (LVDTs) are sensors used for measurement displacement and position. They accurately measure the movement of the armature (the sliding part) relative to the stationary body of the sensor. The strength of the LVDT principle is that there is no electrical contact across the transducer position-sensing element. This provides clean data, infinite resolution and long life, making it one of the most robust and reliable position sensors on the market.

Short Stroke LVDT
LVDT sensors are extremely adaptive and ideal for use in extreme environments, capable of operating submerged in sea water, in temperatures up to 1100°F, and at pressures up to 30,000psi. LVDT sensors can also survive in radioactive environments and are unaffected by vibration.
Compact short stroke LVDTs from Stellar Technology are used in gaging and monitoring of assembly processes, valve position monitoring, and a variety of precision test and measurement processes. LVDT sensors can be incorporated in to most any application thanks to a variety of mounting options, including non-contact frictionless configurations with nothing to ever wear out.
Short stroke LVDT sensors from Stellar Technology are available in stroke ranges from 0.1” up to 0.4” and provide accuracy of 0.5% FS, with linearity of ±0.5%. These LVDT sensors are fully welded, constructed of stainless steel, and operate from unregulated power supplies of +24 Vdc to +40 Vdc or dual ±12 Vdc to ±20 Vdc, utilizing an internal amplifier to generate a ±5 Vdc output signal. The Model LSU61X has a free unguided armature. The Model LSS61X has an internal spring return armature and a low-friction, non-rotating ball-ended probe designed to withstand side loads that can occur in many industrial applications.
