In-line signal conditioners are ideal for applications where the transducer is exposed to conditions of high temperature, high humidity, or corrosiveness and where the signal conditioning can be placed in-line and removed from the transducer’s environment. They are also useful for miniature sensors which do not have room for internal electronics.

In-Line Signal Conditioners

In-line signal conditioners are connected between a transducer and a readout instrument and can be manufactured from aluminum, stainless steel or high impact plastic. They provide excitation to a sensor and take the output signal from the sensor and send it in the form of an analog 4-20 mA or voltage signal to a data acquisition system, display or other device. Zero and span adjustments are made through coarse rotary switches and potentiometers.

The Series AP5201 In-Line Amplifier is a low cost, easy-to-use, general purpose single-channel conditioner designed for input of pressure, force, torque, weight, and other variables measured by conventional DC-excited strain gage transducers. Advanced analog electronics solve the problem of measurement inaccuracy in environments with high electromechanical noise. The AP5201 provides filtered analog output of ±5Vdc, ±10Vdc, or 4-20 mA which is switch-selectable by the user.

The Series AP5202 is an in-line DC that provides variable transducer bridge excitation of 3V to 10V and delivers up to 10V output or 4-20 mA output with transducer signals from 10 mV to 10V. This in-line amplifier accepts both unipolar to bipolar input signals and can produce corresponding unipolar and bipolar voltage outputs. In addition, the capability of connecting remotely to an internal shunt calibration resistor is offered. All connections are made using screw-terminals mounted inside the AP5202’s durable aluminum enclosure.

The Series AP50XX is a rugged and versatile signal conditioner with a variety of acceptable inputs and available outputs. The unit is enclosed in a stainless steel housing and is protected against environmental conditions including vibration. Options include a variety of electrical terminations, EMI filtering, voltage clipping, surge protection, shunting and scaling.
