(Cary, N.C. – April 29th, 2016) – LORD Corporation – a leader in the management of motion and vibration control systems and sensing solutions – has announced that its subsea wellbore sensors have demonstrated Subsea Instrumentation Interface Standardization (SIIS) compliance.
LORD Corporation’s Stellar Technology subsea wellbore pressure/temperature transducers passed the initial interface testing at a recent interoperability event, demonstrating compliance with the new SIIS requirements. Subsea control module (SCM) manufacturers that participated in the event were Aker Solutions, FMC, GE, OneSubsea and Proserv. Having passed each interoperability test, LORD Corporation’s wellbore sensing technology was validated to successfully interface with these SCM manufacturers.
Stellar Technology’s complete selection of pressure transducers, pressure transmitters, load cells and temperature sensors provide test, measurement, and control solutions across a broad range of automobile, truck, off-road, locomotive, marine, military, recreational, and material handling applications.
Stellar Technology sensors deliver accuracy and longevity in the extreme environments of subsea exploration and production. We produce rugged, reliable sensors that support many processes in the industry.
The MEADS pressure transducers are manufactured by Stellar Technologies, Inc. and are derivatives of off-the-shelf transducers. They are strain gage-type transducers with a range from 0 to 5 psia, outfitted at the manufacturer with flight electrical connectors, pressure input fittings, and mounting brackets. The transducers are not thermally compensated and they contain no electronics (electronics functions are performed by the SSE.) The transducers were calibrated with the SSE, as a subsystem, in combination with thermal/vacuum qualification at Langley. The calibration coefficients from this testing were then used to convert millivolts to pressures when the MEADS flight data was obtained. All of the hardware-related uncertainties were used in an error budget to ensure that the MEADS subsystem would meet the science objectives listed above.4
The Series FT290 pressure transducers are designed for those applications requiring both a standard NPTmale process connection and a flush diaphragm with zero dead volume. These pressure sensors are designed with a unique diaphragm design which reduces stress levels caused by torquing a tapered thread into the mating fitting. Besides their small size (only 3.5 oz.), these pressure sensors are constructed of all welded stainless steel and can withstand demanding application environments.
The FT290 covers ranges from 2,000 to 10,000 psia/psig and provides 3mV/V full scale output with 10vdc excitation. Static accuracy is ±0.25% (BFSL). The operating temperature is -100°F to +300°F, and the compensated temperature range is from -65°F to +250°F.
The Stellar Technology Series AP50XX in-line signal conditioner offers many options for those customers requiring high level output where application temperatures or physical size constraints do not allow having signal conditioning at the point of measurement. The AP50XX can be placed in-line anywhere between the transducer and the data acquisition system.
The AP50XX is available in two diameter configurations, making it easy to incorporate into a variety of applications. The Series AP50XX is all-welded and constructed of stainless steel, and is available with a variety of analog and digital outputs. Standard analog outputs are 4-20 mAcurrent loop, 0-5 Vdc, 0-10 Vdc, and 1-5 Vdc.
The new Series AP5104 is a convenient DIN-rail Amplifier for use with 4-, 5-, or 6-wire LVDTs (linear variable differential transformer). The AP5104 provides regulated AC excitation with remote sensing capability for cable runs exceeding 20 feet. The AP5104 produces filtered analog outputs of ±0-5Vdc, ±0-10 Vdc, 4-20 mA, 4-12-20 mAwhich are field-selectable via the front panel.
These outputs are filtered using a low-pass active filter that removes unwanted high-frequency measurement-signal components and thus eliminates aliasing errors. Signal inputs from 16 to 1600 mV/V are accepted.
The new Model AP5101 is a DIN-rail mounted single channel Amplifier which provides variable excitation and signal conditioning for standard DC-excited strain gage transducers, including those for pressure, force, torque, and load. The AP5101 provides up to 10V output or 4-20 output with transducer signals from 10mV to 10V, and incorporates a DC-DC converter to insure that the output is electrically isolated from the supply. The unit accepts both uni-polar and bi-polar input signals and can produce corresponding uni-polar or bi-polar voltage outputs.
